Strategic Collaborative Governance

Our work:

  • Researching what makes partnerships effective and publishing a series of influential reports on partnership best practise.
  • Promoting good practise through the Partnership Governance and Accountability Framework (PGA), a practical tool for improving practice of good governance and accountability of partnerships. The PGA Framework is currently used by over 200 partnership practitioners and researchers.
  • Supporting partnerships to enhance the quality of their own governance and accountability through peer-to-peer learning, testing the PGA Framework, and cross-cutting research.
  • Influencing debate by demonstrating the importance of effective governance of partnerships.
  • Catalysing the development of new ‘Accountability Compacts’– mutual agreements governing decision-making and performance in partnerships.

Examples in practise

The MFA Forum  www.mfa-forum.net, AccountAbility convenes the multi-stakeholder MFA Forum which was established in early 2004 in response to anticipation of the  potentially negative consequences for some countries, workers and  communities of the phase out of trade quotas on garments and textiles. The MFA forum has developed  ‘A Collaborative Framework for Guiding Post-MFA Actions’ to outline the key roles and responsibilities of its participants in working to address this challenge in the global garment  industry.
