The Accountability 21 Dialogues
Over the past ten years there have been some extraordinary changes. People impacted by business have found an ever-louder, clearer voice about their concerns, increasingly placing social and environmental issues onto boardroom agendas. Today, the accountability agenda is centre-stage, as concerns grow over the consequences of governance and accountability shortfalls on peoples' lives and the state of the planet. The need to innovate in providing a new generation of accountability solutions has never been greater.
AccountAbility wiil play a key role in meeting this need. Building on its first decade's work, we have initiated Accountability 21 an international dialogue and call for action. We see our place as being a catalyst to bring together people, organisations and ideas that will advance much-needed accountability innovations for the 21st century.
We bring together businesses, civil society organisations policy makers, public sector bodies, and multisector partnerships, as well as individual leaders from all types of organisation from around the world to develop, share and learn from accountability innovations. This new movement of accountability leaders includes grassroots campaigners, entrepreneurs, politicians and thinkers. All share a commitment to major breakthroughs, not ever more layers of bureaucratic accountability. From New York to São Paulo, and from Jakarta to Moscow, we are working with experts, policymakers and citizens groups to target the biggest accountability deficits and scale up the most promising solutions for accountability innovations.
