Head of Europe
Mathew is a Senior Manager with responsibility for the firm’s European practice. He has over 20+ years experience in internal and external consulting roles advising Governments, Blue Chip Companies, and SMEs.
Prior to joining AccountAbility, Mathew led his own strategy consulting firm and advised firms across multiple industry sectors in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. He worked closely with clients to develop and implement transformational strategies covering new market entry, new product development, environmental reporting and operational efficiency.
Before starting his own consulting firm, Mathew worked for the New Zealand Government working on the development of their ODI and FDI policies. He also worked closely with New Zealand firms looking to enter the Middle East, India and Africa and raised investment capital from GCC based investors.
Prior to the New Zealand Government, Mathew led strategy functions at UBS in Zurich, New York and London, and led internal strategy consulting teams at Barclays. At UBS he and his team designed and implemented strategies that included expanding the Private Bank into Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Latin America. Post GFC he designed, and worked on the implementation of, a centralised procurement entity to significantly reduce the firm’s cost base. Mathew has also worked as a consultant at KPMG and led the design and launch of their global Islamic Finance Practice.
Mathew holds a BSc in Geography and a MSc in Environmental Impact Assessment, which he completed in association with the United Nations Environment Programme.
