Global Head of Communications and Partnerships
Megan Maher is the head of AccountAbility’s global communications and partnership efforts.
At AccountAbility, she is responsible for the firm’s brand and market positioning, establishing partnerships with aligned organizations, and advising on client communications work. She is an expert storyteller and strategist, focused on amplifying awareness and understanding of AccountAbility’s mission, business capabilities, and client impact.
Prior to AccountAbility, Megan established the first formal client service function for a New York-based public relations firm, bringing rigor to account relationship building and developing communications strategies that creatively positioned clients in alignment with the news cycle.
She also worked for five years as a Senior Consultant at the Washington, DC-based consulting firm McKinley Advisors. In this capacity, Megan’s portfolio encompassed a variety of business transformation and strategy initiatives, from facilitating research-informed strategic planning workshops among Fortune 500 executives, to authoring the creative briefs and brand strategies for more than a dozen association repositioning campaigns. Additionally, her corporate communications career launched at the rapidly growing market research company Hanover Research, where Megan established the company’s inaugural sales support and corporate communications function – contributing to the firm’s growth from 50 to more than 300 employees over the course of her tenure.
Passionate about her community and social impact, Megan worked as a Special Events Consultant for United Cerebral Palsy’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C., where she organized a national conference and led a global fundraising challenge to double historical participation and fundraising numbers. Megan also donates her time and talents as a New York Cares volunteer and Taproot “speed consultant.” She was selected as a Social Innovation Fellow in 2018 by the StartingBloc Leadership program and was an invited speaker on the power of storytelling in building grassroots movements for membership organizations at the 2019 CalSAE annual conference.
