Peppi-Emilia Airike manages AccountAbility’s Head of Standards & Research functions.

Based in our New York offices, Peppi-Emilia is responsible for the management and promotion of AccountAbility’s AA1000 Series of Standards and leads the firm’s Research efforts. Prior to her current role, Peppi-Emilia served AccountAbility’s clients as part of the firm’s Advisory team, with a focus on ESG strategy and governance design, sustainability reporting and disclosure, program evaluation and development, carbon emissions accounting, and practitioner training.

Peppi-Emilia is a sustainability professional with over a decade and a half of international experience across manufacturing, telecommunications, insurance, tourism and hospitality, and consulting industries. She has worked in Sweden, Finland, and Turkey, at small and medium-sized businesses as well as large multinational corporations. Most recently, at Chubb Insurance, Peppi-Emilia led the opening of a new country office in Finland as well as several initiatives to secure business continuity capabilities across various regional offices, departments, functions, and management teams.

Peppi-Emilia has a strong interest in the role of the private sector in addressing global sustainability challenges and advancing the ESG agenda. Her extensive corporate responsibility research has focused on the role of multi-stakeholder collaboration in building sustainable supply chains, and her work has been published in international peer-reviewed books and journals.

Peppi-Emilia holds a Corporate Sustainability Certificate from the NYU Stern School of Business. She has earned a Master of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Environmental Economics and Management from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and a Master of Arts degree in Communication for Development from Malmö University, Sweden, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Oulu University of Applied Sciences, Finland.
