AccountAbility promotes latest Signature Principles at the UIA Associations Round Table Europe

AccountAbility’s Global Head of Research, David Pritchett, presented at the Union of International Associations (UIA) Round Table Europe that took place in Lyon, France on November 15th and 16th.

The audience at the Round Table comprised over 120 professionals representing diverse international associations. The aim and purpose of the event was to showcase leading practices, share experiences and practical tools in supporting the advancement of sustainable management and impact measurement of international associations.

During his session, Mr. Pritchett introduced how the signature AA1000 AccountAbility Principles (AA1000AP, 2018) provides organisations with a practical set of internationally accepted guiding principles with which they can assess, manage, measure and communicate their accountability and sustainability performance. Combining thought leadership with a relevant case study, Mr Pritchett was able to illustrate the benefits and value of a robust and structured approach to implementing the principles of Inclusivity, Materiality, Responsiveness and Impact.

Associations have the capacity to influence their member organisations, and promote sustainability management practices in their respective value chains. “The AA1000AP (2018) is of high relevance to associations of all sizes, sectors and geographies – effective alignment to the AccountAbility principles optimises decision-making, improves the allocation of resources and enhances the overall access to funding” stated Mr. Pritchett.

The UIA has been a pioneer in the research, monitoring and provision of information on international associations and their global challenges since its founding in 1907.
